What is ERC-20?

The standard token format used by USDT and USDC on Ethereum and EVM chains.

ERC-20 is a technical standard for fungible tokens on Ethereum and EVM-compatible blockchains (Polygon, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, BSC). USDT and USDC follow the ERC-20 standard, which defines how tokens are transferred, approved, and queried.

ERC-20 for Payments

Because USDT and USDC follow the ERC-20 standard, they can be sent from any ERC-20 compatible wallet (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet) to any ERC-20 address. This universality makes them ideal for payment processing.
